Music in the service of the church in the service of the world
Called by you and by your word
1. Called by you and by your word,
blessèd Jesus, here you meet us;
let our hearts and minds be stirred:
be the bread of life that feeds us.
May your covenant here given
be a foretaste of your heaven.
2. All our knowledge, sense, and sight
lie in deepest darkness shrouded;
let your Spirit pierce our night,
filling us with light unclouded.
May your ever-gracious giving
sanctify our thoughts and living.
3. Christ of glory, radiant, bright,
light of light from God proceeding:
open ears and hearts and minds
by your Spirit's onward leading.
Hear our joy and lamentation;
hear our praise and supplication.
4. Praise the Lord whom heav'n adores,
sing we majesty and merit;
boundless, timeless worship yours,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
May our earth-bound acclamation
join the angels' adoration.

Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier
