Iambic pentameter: an irony

Perhaps the poetic form most famously associated with the English langauge is iambic pentameter, whose use is exemplified by one of our finest poets, William Shakespeare.

So how sadly ironic, then, that the term "iambic pentameter" cannot itself appear within its own poetic form. This little verse, naturally itself in iambic pentameter, laments this unfortunate truth.

    The words iambic and pentameter
    cannot, alas, adjacent be employed
to craft within such meter this, its term,
but with conjunctive word must be alloyed.
